Theme Night Descriptions

FRIEND NIGHT       EVERY NIGHT ALL YEAR

When Clubbers bring a friend for the first time – they and their friend will receive 5 AWANA Bucks.  2nd visit they both receive 10 AWANA Bucks.  3rd visit they both receive 15 AWANA bucks.

A friend is classified as someone who has not visited AWANA more than 3 times (EVER).

FROG Night

Teach clubbers to Fully Rely On God – hand out small frogs (toy not real) or gummy frogs.  Have games that require relying on each other – teaching that GOD will never fail us.

Parent's Night

Have a parent/clubber night. The parents have to go through handbook time with their clubbers, say sections to the leaders, etc. Then they go through game time with their clubbers - with a twist - have them run the relays backwards. And finally, during council time, have a message about being closer to God than we are to our parents. Relate how God is our Father, and bring a salvation message.

Twins Night / Doubles Night

Have the clubbers dress the same as a friend and come as "twins."

Use to promote visitors; encourage clubbers to find someone with a shared attribute: A friend who also wears glasses, a friend who also has red hair, etc., or just have the visitor come wearing the same colors.

Double Section Night – Give double points for sections.

Drive In Movie Night

Clubbers bring cardboard box “cars” they have made to see movie during counsel time – serve popcorn.

Feed the Hungry & AWANA Feeds You

Clubbers will be challenged to bring in canned goods for the hungry. Whichever team  brings in the most canned items (we will line them up on their lines to determine winner – based on game time color teams.  Sparks & T&T Red team will be on the same team, etc.) will win pizza (there is room for options here). Clubbers will be competing with each other as well as Leaders (obviously we expect a Clubber to win). During council time, this would be a good time to talk about the feeding of the 5000.

Silent Night

Everyone has to whisper. NO LOUD TALKING!!! Have a guest speaker (Jan?) teach us a song in sign language. Game time is quiet cheering and clapping and quiet games.

Pizza Night

Welcome in the New Year with Pizza for Everyone.

Pump the Pastor Night

Pastor will attend Council Time to answer clubbers questions about God, the Bible, how to be a Christian, etc. Have your questions ready

Hugs and Kisses Night

The kids have Valentine’s Day on their mind and we play on that. The week before, we play this up by telling all the kids that next week the boys have to hug and kiss the girls and vice versa. On our promotional flier though, we tell the parents that there will not be any hugging and kissing, only that we will be handing out hugs and kisses next week. We also play our games with them as well as make sure that every clubber gets at least one of each before they leave club. Of course, I am talking about the Hershey's Hugs and Kisses chocolate candy.

IDEA: Last year we took this night one step further and bought the snack size Ziploc bags. I printed labels up on the computer that had a Valentine heart that says I Love You and then put this message on it as well - Jesus Wants to Be Your Valentine and them put our church name and address on it as well. We stuck this to the outside of the bag. On the inside we put some candy message hearts, hugs and kisses as well as a simple, children's, gospel track. This was a unique way to even reach these clubbers parents at a time that they were not expecting something like this.
